[luhv] in Anthem, Arizona
Chloe LaCoss & Nazra Knutsen
About a year and half ago...I (Nazra) visited my sister and her family in Arizona. Chloe is my niece and is 10 this year. One day, while I was there, Chloe had her two friends over, Camille and Lauren. They asked me to help them come up with ideas of something they could do because they were so bored. "Random Acts of Kindness" came to mind and I asked them if they wanted to do something for other people, just to put a smile on their face? They were immediately "in". We came up with the idea to stand outside of the grocery store, Frys, and hand out ice cold popsicles for free. It was around 105 degrees out and sweltering hot. It took about an hour to give out 30 popsicles (we kept in an ice cold cooler). We got all sorts of reactions from both the customers and the people who worked at the store. "You want to do what?" "Why would you BUY popsicles here and hand them out for FREE?" "Why?" People instantly had "no, thanks" on the tip of their tongue as they were walking in, thinking we were trying to sell something...and then on the way out, they would reluctantly walk back over to us and say, well, actually, sure I'll take one...but why are you doing this? Our answers consisted of, "just want to make someone else smile today", " we hope this will make you want to do something nice for someone else today", "just because"...etc...etc. After we would get a "no, thanks" after a "no, thanks" ~ the girls would get a little frustrated and ask me, "WHY don't people want a FREE popsicle when its SOOOOO HOT out?" My answer to them was that people don't know how to react to unselfish kindness. No one gives away something for free without expecting something in return. This doesn't go along with the natural laws of our society today. They just don't understand. But at least, we'll get them thinking.
After what seemed like forever and the last few popsicles were starting to melt...we decided that we made a good effort at our "Random Act of Kindness" and that it was time to leave. There was a Tully's inside the grocery store , so after we packed up, I decided to treat the girls to a Tully's shake. I ordered four shakes for us, totalling about $20 or so ...and when I got ready to pay, the Tully's barista told me the shakes were on her and her co-worker. (They had come out and got a few popsicles from us along with probably the rest of the staff working at the grocery store.) They explained how that it totally made their day to see this "random act of kindness" and that they wanted to give back to us for our act of kindess. What a blessed day to see that we DID indeed make a difference in getting others to think about being kind to others, "just because". AND we ended up getting blessed in return. What a special day!
We [luhv] this!
So..something started stirring in my heart a couple weeks ago and the saying "random acts of love" popped into my head. I couldn't stop thinking about it- what that would mean...look like...how it would be so great to inspire others to make the world a little better...etc. So, I called my younger brother, Lonnie, and asked if he could make me a banner for a blog and told him kind of what my vision/idea was for this "campaign". He responded "NO WAY" ~ the same kind of thing has been on my heart! He said that he was thinking about going down-town Seattle and passing out hot chocolate, coffee, scarves, coats, gloves, and new socks to whomever was in need of it. He's been wanting to do something outside of himself - totally unselfish...showing love to others in very practical ways...the same stirrings in my heart. So..."random acts of [luhv] campaign" was born. The reason we spell "love" [luhv] is it is the phonetic spelling of the word "love". We were wanting something a little different that people would ask, "what is that?". That's the first thing people ask when they see the word [luhv]! EVERYONE is invited to join our campaign for [luhv]! U R INVITED!
So...if you are wondering who it is writing these blogs, keeping up on facebook, sending out the T's
~ its either myself (nazra knutsen) or my brother (lonnie webb). :-) AND we want to thank U personally for being interested about what this thing is all about and wanting to get involved. We've been busy getting the "behind the scenes" stuff done ~ such as trademarking, business plan development, setting up the non-profit..etc...so as SOON as we have this done- we'll announce our first OFFICIAL event...so STAY TUNED!
[luhv]ing it up!!

We just wanted to extend a very sincere THANK YOU to all the ladies from Mtn View Presby Church in Marysville, WA, who knitted these beautiful "lap robes". They have been donated for our upcoming "Warming Up Seattle" event! We can tell that so much time and [luhv] went into making these mini blankets. We are confident that these will bring much warmth to whomever hands they end up in. So.....THANK YOU again from the bottom of our hearts! It is a priviledge to have you be a part of this campaign!

Katherine Webb (Mother of the Vision Leaders)
I was at Fred Meyer and was in the checkout line and the checkout gal asked me if all I was going to get the three things I put on the counter. I thought that was an odd question. At least, oddly put... After all, she saw me put my items on the counter.... I didn't see initially that the man behind me had put his things on the counter, as well, and without the divider between his things and mine. When she asked me again if that was all I was going to get, I again said yes and at the same time saw the elderly frail looking man sitting in a wheelchair cart behind me. I asked, "are you with that lady behind you?" and he said "No, I'm alone."

So I was sitting in the Starbucks drive thru during Christmas Time last year with my dad. We ordered about 5 drinks and when we got to the window we were told that the people in front of us bought our coffee… I was so amazed at the [LUHV] of people for complete strangers and how they just wanted to make someone’s day. After I found out that they bought my coffee I decided to buy coffee for the people behind me and then they bought coffee for people behind them.
The next day I went in to Starbucks to get a coffee and they said that it passed on to like 67 cars in a row that did the same thing… SOO GOOD!!!

JEFF PETTIT from Emily's Coffee Stand for being our first "official" donor to our campaign!
We were so excited that we were going to frame the $10 - but at our first "vision" meeting...we felt it was totally appropriate to do a "random act of [luhv]" and tip our baristas the $10 bucks for letting us meet at their coffee shop! :-)
The [luhv] is SPREADING! :-)
Thanks, Jeff!! We TOTALLY appreciate you backing our cause!

[luhv]in Kerry Park in Queen Anne - in Seattle, WA
Nazra Knutsen
We were out doing our photo shoot for the [luhv] campaign at a park in Seattle and this girl came up to us and asked us what we were doing. We explained to her what [luhv] means and that we were out doing a photo shoot to get pictures for our campaign. She instantly was "in" and asked that we contact her and let her know when were going to be doing events in Seattle so she could come and help. We took down her information and after getting to know her a bit more...we asked her if she wanted to come hang out with us and join in on the photo session. She didn't have plans until later...and since I had brought extra t-shirts- she got to be a part of the beginning stirrings of us bringing [luhv] to Seattle. Her name is Mira and she is an au pair from Germany who works for a family in Queen Anne. She happened to have the day off and just came down to the park to hang out. We are so pleased to have met her and have gotten to know her! Its amazing that a simple "idea" can connect people that otherwise might not have ever spoken...but its the yearning in everyone's hearts to be a part of something bigger and outside of themselves that are going to be connecting people worldwide through getting the word out on [luhv]!
